What is HelixGPT?
We throw the phrase around a lot – HelixGPT – but we don’t always say what we mean by it. BMC HelixGPT is a generative AI capability integrated into BMC Helix Service Management and BMC Helix IT Operations Management. It provides faster problem resolution, improved collaboration, and increased productivity.
On the Operations Management side of the house, customers can use BMC HelixGPT to provide real-time recommendations based on historical and current data to support better decision-making.
And the reason I’m focusing specifically on the Operations Management side of the house is because there has just been a new release to make it even better!
BMC Helix ITOM 24.4/25.1 made enhancements to the following:
- Network topology infrastructure and deep host discovery—Discover network topology and relationships using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) data and get deep host discovery on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) hosts that detects operating system and other software details from cloud virtual machines using existing API scans and credentials.
- New just-in-time integrators for ServiceNow, Jira, Splunk, and Elastic—Get artificial intelligence (AI)-driven insights, summaries, and recommendations for incidents from BMC Helix ITSM, ServiceNow, and Jira, plus situational log insights for a larger set of log data from BMC Helix Log Analytics, Splunk, and Elastic tools.
- BMC HelixGPT Vulnerability Resolver—Consolidate vulnerability data get a unified view of vulnerabilities impacting critical business services, and speed recommended remediations for those vulnerabilities with a built-in AI agent.
- BMC HelixGPT Change Risk Advisor—Identify risky changes for change managers and DevOps engineers by analyzing operations and service management data with the integrated AI agent.

For this blog, I wanted to focus on the Change Risk Advisor. What can I say? I’m a long-time fan of good change management, and knowing the risks of a change is so important!
BMC Helix AIOps connects with BMC Helix ITSM to display change requests created in BMC Helix ITSM over a predefined period. When you investigate the change request, the status, AI-generated risk level, severity, and impacted services are displayed in addition to the request details. The number of open situations, situations that occurred in the past due to similar change requests and the status display the current health of the service.
By connecting with BMC HelixGPT, BMC Helix AIOps generates insights derived from historical change requests, which helps in making informed decisions proactively before implementing changes.
