Did you know you can customize the screens your customers/users see when you display messages during the patching process?
This post will provide you with the knowledge to add your custom screens to Footprint Asset Core.
Let’s see the default screens first:
Now let’s see the Customized Screens:
BMC has documented the process to add your customized screens on page 140 of the v11.6 “BMCFPAssetCore_OperationalRules.pdf” file. Here is the information found on that page:
“The logo of the message box may be customized as well. For this you only need to store the following customized images in their exact sizes in the /data/core/res directory of the Asset Core agent: FullSized.bmp (575 x 575 pixels), MediumSized.bmp (575
x 510 pixels), SmallSized.bmp (575 x 455 pixels), RebootAfterLogOut.bmp (575 x 275 pixels).”
If you also have DEPLOY you can easily create a software package that will drop the “res” folder in the proper path:
To give you an idea of what the BMP should look like to get the results above here is an example:
If you click on any of the above images they will open in a new window.
If you don’t have the DEPLOY modules then you can use a custom script using XCOPY or any other tools you may have to push this folder with your new BMP files to each Windows Device.
Special thanks to my Friends and Customer in Orlando working in the Hospitality field that provided the templates. They were my first customer that implemented this feature. As you can see by branding these screens with your logo end users are less apt to enter a support ticket asking if this is a virus or an unwanted action.
